We’re bringing the sounds of Tower of Power to the south side! Down to the Lucky 13 Garage (Nightclub) to bring slick horn-driven NoCal funk to Moorabbin.
ABOUT O.T.L:
Off The Leash is a Melbourne band that was put together in 2016 to honour the music of legendary Oakland California soul and funk legends Tower of Power.
Members of OTL regularly gig with or have played for some of Australia’s busiest soul, jazz, blues, funk and rnb acts, including the legendary Big and Horny, jazz funk group Pickpocket, and countless others.
Each member* is a big fan of Tower or Power first and foremost, and with the rarity of T.O.P.’s appearances Downunder, they relish the opportunity to bring the grooves of Oakland’s finest to the streets and clubs of Australia.
ABOUT T.O.P:
Since releasing their debut album East Bay Grease in 1970, Tower of Power have amassed 19 studio albums and seven live recordings. A run of 1970s hits, including You’re Still a Young Man, So Very Hard to Go, Don’t Change Horses (in the Middle of a Stream), What Is Hip? and Only So Much Oil in the Ground, took the band from Oakland clubs to audiences across America.
More than five decades on, Tower of Power continue to tour and record, highlighted by the 2018 release The Soul Side of Town.
Beyond their own success, Tower of Power’s renowned horn section has been a first-call choice for recording sessions with Huey Lewis and the News, Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan, Little Feat, Rod Stewart, Sammy Hagar, Extreme, Neil Diamond, Aerosmith, Luther Vandross, Bonnie Raitt and Smokey Robinson, among many others. So, if you haven’t heard of them, you’ve certainly HEARD them before!
